The four major filters of air, oil, fuel and hydraulic are loyal guards protecting the core components of the excavator. They are respectively responsible for filtering impurities entering the engine and hydraulic system, and their roles are irreplaceable. Once the filter element is clogged or failed, pollutants will drive straight in, causing devastating damage such as engine cylinder failure and hydraulic pump wear.
It must be replaced strictly in accordance with the time or alarm instructions specified in the maintenance manual. Do not reuse after purging or extend service. In construction sites with strong winds and dust, the frequency of inspection and replacement of air filters should be doubled. When replacing, please pay attention to the operating specifications, such as cleaning the sealing cavity of the air filter before installing it to prevent dust from falling into the air intake during the replacement process.
A small filter element makes a big difference. According to statistics, more than half of early engine wear is related to improper filter maintenance. Reasonable investment in filters is the most cost-effective protective measure, which can effectively avoid losing a small amount and protect core assemblies worth hundreds of thousands.
