Long-term storage and maintenance: let the excavator "sleep peacefully"
16 Jul,2025
Intermittent or seasonal shutdowns of the project require standardized storage and maintenance of the excavator, otherwise it will easily lead to equipment damage. Incorrect storage, such as parking for several months without treatment, may cause serious consequences such as battery loss and scrapping, oil deterioration, and moving parts rusting.
Standard storage steps include: thoroughly cleaning the entire vehicle; parking the equipment in a dry and flat indoor location; retracting the boom and bucket rod, and fully extending the bucket cylinder to prevent rust; draining the diesel tank and cooling water (if in cold areas); disconnecting the negative electrode of the battery; applying anti-rust grease to all exposed metal parts; starting the engine for a short period of time (such as every month) and operating each component several times.
Professional storage and maintenance is like putting the equipment into "sleep mode", ensuring that it can be quickly put into battle when needed. This not only protects assets, but also avoids delays in construction due to equipment failure during resumption of work, embodying scientific equipment management concepts.
