Special maintenance strategies for different working conditions
25 Aug,2025
Excavators operating in special working conditions such as mines, swamps, and cold areas face completely different challenges, and maintenance strategies also need to be "adapted to local conditions." In mining gravel working conditions, it is necessary to strengthen the wear inspection of the chassis and bucket, and the air filter needs to be replaced very frequently. When operating in swamp areas, focus should be placed on the cleaning and rust prevention of the traveling mechanism, and the sealing of the rotating ring gear also needs to be inspected more intensively.
In severely cold areas, it is necessary to switch to low-freezing point diesel and antifreeze engine oil, install a fuel preheater, and pay special attention to keeping the battery warm and selecting a high-capacity battery. In coastal or corrosive environments, it is necessary to increase the frequency of anti-rust treatment for the entire vehicle metal structure, especially the circuit connectors.
A “one size fits all” maintenance program cannot address every challenge. The machine owner or manager should formulate enhanced maintenance items based on standard maintenance based on the actual operating environment of the equipment. This differentiated and meticulous maintenance is the fundamental guarantee for equipment to maintain high reliability and attendance under extreme conditions.
