Safety and worry-free—excavator daily inspection checklist

01 Mar,2025

System inspection before starting work every day is the first line of defense to prevent excavator failure. The operator should circle the equipment and focus on checking whether there are oil leaks, cracks in structural parts or loose bolts. Afterwards, you need to enter the cab and start the engine, observe whether the indicator lights on the instrument panel are normal at idle speed, listen to whether there are any abnormal noises from the engine and hydraulic pump, and test whether each action is smooth and free of jamming.
The standardized inspection process should include the four major items of "oil, water, electricity, and gas": check engine oil, hydraulic oil, and coolant levels; clean and check the air filter; check whether the battery pile head is tight and whether the electrolyte is sufficient; check tire pressure or track tension. It is also essential to record the wear and tear of wearing parts such as buckets and bucket teeth.
Sticking to this checklist will nip most minor problems in the bud. According to statistics, equipment with good pre-inspection habits can reduce its sudden failure rate by more than 60%. This not only ensures construction safety and progress, but also significantly saves high emergency maintenance costs. It is a core measure to achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
